Frequently Asked Questions About Our Free Online Care Courses

Here are answers to the questions we are asked most often about our free online care courses. If you cannot find what you need, email info@carecertified.co.uk or visit our contact page.

01

About our free courses and applying

Are the courses really free?

Yes. There is no charge for the course, the assessment or the certificate of completion. You apply for a place first.

Why do I have to sign up and apply for a free course?

You need an account so that we can set up your learning, and we review every application manually before enrolling anyone. That is why access is not instant.

How long does the review take?

We cannot guarantee a time. We will email you with our decision, so check your spam folder if you have not heard from us.

Can I start straight away?

No. Every application is reviewed by a person, so access is not instant, even though the courses are free.

What do you look at when you review an application?

In general we check that your details are complete and genuine and that the course suits your situation.

What happens if my application is not approved?

We will tell you by email.

Can I apply for more than one course?

Yes. Apply for each course you need.

How do I apply?

Choose a course, complete the application form and wait for our review. Our how to apply page explains each step.

Do I need to work in care to apply?

No. You do not have to be employed in care to apply, although the courses are written with care workers in mind. If you are not yet working in care, note that some training, such as the Care Certificate, is completed through an employer, so the course covers the knowledge part only.

Can I study on my phone or tablet?

The courses are online, so you need an internet connection and a device with a web browser.

02

Certificates and accreditation

Do I get a certificate?

If you pass the online assessment, you can receive a certificate of completion issued by CareCertified.

Are your courses accredited?

Yes. Our courses are CPD accredited. #### Is a certificate of completion a qualification?

No. It shows that you finished an online course. It is not a regulated qualification and does not prove that you are competent in the workplace.

Will my employer accept the certificate?

That is up to your employer. Employers decide what training they accept and what else they need, such as practical assessment or supervision. Ask yours before you start.

What does Level 2 or Level 3 mean in a course name?

It describes how deep the training goes. It is not a regulated qualification level, and your employer decides which level your role needs.

Can I get a replacement copy of my certificate?

If you have a problem with your certificate, email info@carecertified.co.uk.

03

The Care Certificate

Does your course give me the Care Certificate?

No. Our course covers the knowledge part of the 16 standards. Your employer observes your practice, assesses your competence and signs off the full Care Certificate.

Is the Care Certificate a qualification?

No. It is a set of workplace induction standards. It is separate from the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate qualification.

04

Safeguarding

Which safeguarding level do I need?

Your employer decides, usually by reference to your role and national or local guidance. As a rough guide, level 2 suits people who work regularly with adults or children, and level 3 suits people with greater responsibility, such as assessing, contributing to enquiries or supervising.

Will the online level 3 course meet my employer's requirement?

Check with your employer first. Some expect case-based or face-to-face learning at level 3 as well as online study.

How often should I repeat safeguarding training?

Employers and local safeguarding partnerships set the refresher cycle. Ask your manager what applies to your role.

What types of abuse do the safeguarding courses cover?

The adult courses introduce the types of abuse and neglect described in the Care Act guidance, including physical, psychological, financial, discriminatory and organisational abuse, modern slavery, neglect and self-neglect. The children's courses cover the main categories of abuse and neglect, along with issues such as online safety and female genital mutilation (FGM).

Which course do new care workers usually start with?

Many new care workers start with the Care Certificate standards as part of their employer's induction, and safeguarding adults is a common early requirement. Your employer decides which training you need, so check with them first. Our Care Certificate course covers the knowledge part only.

05

First aid and moving and handling

Does the paediatric first aid course meet EYFS requirements?

No. It is online theory only. For EYFS purposes the emergency paediatric first aid course must be taken face to face, so you would need a course with practical, in-person training.

Does the moving and handling course cover moving people?

No. It covers objects and loads. If you move or assist people, you need separate practical training from a competent trainer.

06
